Support
FoldEngine is made by one developer. Every message is read by a person, the one who builds the app.
What helps us answer
- Your device: Mac, iPhone or iPad, and its model.
- Your macOS or iOS version, and the FoldEngine version.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if it shows the problem.
Never send passwords, your Zenodo token or other keys. We will never ask for them.
Common questions
Is FoldEngine really free?
Yes. Every feature is included. If you want to, you can leave a one-off tip or subscribe as a Supporter, monthly or yearly. Neither unlocks any feature.
How do I cancel the Supporter subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: cancel it at any time from the subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Nothing in the app changes when it ends. Tips are one-off gifts and do not renew.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in. Your iPhone and iPad find your Mac through your own iCloud.
Where does my data go?
Most of it stays on your device, in folders you choose. Data leaves only for features you switch on, and the privacy notice lists each one, what it sends and who receives it.
How do I stop contributing, or delete my data?
Switch off Donate computing power on the Contribute screen: new tasks stop, and a task already running finishes. To withdraw a permission or delete your data, open Settings › Privacy & licences. If the app cannot do it, write to privacy@foldengine.science.
Can I use the results for a medical decision?
No. FoldEngine is a research and teaching tool, not a medical device. Its results are computations that can be wrong and must be checked independently.
Why does my iPhone not run simulations?
By design, the Mac does the computing. iPhone and iPad follow it live and show your contribution.
I found a security problem.
Please write to support@foldengine.science with “Security” in the subject, and do not publish the details until we have answered.
